DaysofPal — Israeli occupation forces have intensified restrictions across the West Bank, increasing the number of military checkpoints, iron gates, and road closures with dirt mounds, according to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
Ameer Dawood, the commission’s Director of Publishing and Documentation stated that Israeli occupation authorities have installed more than 146 iron gates across the West Bank since October 7, 2023, including 17 since the start of 2025.
He noted that the total number of checkpoints—whether permanent, temporary, or makeshift—has now reached 898.
For the third straight day, Israeli forces have intensified inspections at key entry and exit points across the West Bank.
Local sources reported severe traffic congestion at the Atara and Ein Siniya checkpoints near Ramallah, where soldiers are thoroughly searching vehicles and checking IDs.
Meanwhile, the entrances to the villages of Nabi Elias and Kafr Laqif have been sealed with iron gates, while new military checkpoints in Al-Funduq, Jit, and Hajja—east of Qalqilya—have disrupted travel along the main Qalqilya-Nablus road.
Israeli troops have also shut down the Tayasir checkpoint east of Tubas, preventing Palestinians from reaching the Jordan Valley.
At the nearby Al-Hamra checkpoint, movement restrictions have led to heavy traffic jams. For the past 18 months, these checkpoints have seen frequent closures, but restrictions have intensified in the past three days, forcing hundreds of Palestinians to spend the night waiting to cross.
With these two key checkpoints effectively blocking access to the Jordan Valley, travel to the area now depends entirely on Israeli military control.
‘Security measures’ have also tightened at the Qalandiya and Jaba military checkpoints north of Jerusalem, further disrupting movement and causing major traffic delays.
The growing number of roadblocks and security measures has significantly impacted daily life across the West Bank, deepening tensions and further restricting Palestinian mobility.
