Associated Press reported that Israeli authorities have approved 12.7 square kilometre land seizure in the occupied West Bank, called the largest land seizure in three decades by monitoring group Peace Now.
The Israeli agency handling land affairs for the occupied territories declared the land in the Jordan Valley “state property” in June, according to a declaration obtained by AFP on Wednesday.
The land seizure, which was approved late last month but only publicized on Wednesday, comes after the seizure of 8 square kilometers (roughly 3 square miles) of land in the West Bank in March and 2.6 square kilometers (1 square mile) in February.
Since October 7, ‘Israel’ has surged its punitive measures against Palestinains in the West Bank, declaring a systematic construction of illegal outposts and settlements which have eaten up thousands of dunums of Palestinian lands.
