DaysofPal — The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has condemned the killing of at least 45 children in the Gaza Strip over the past two days by Israeli forces, calling it a devastating reminder of the deadly toll the war is taking on children.
“These past 19 months, Gaza has been deadly for children and there are no safe spaces,” said Edward Beigbeder, UNICEF’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa.
“From North to South, children are being killed and maimed in hospitals, in schools-turned-shelters, in makeshift tents, or in their parents’ arms.”
UNICEF warned that Gaza has become “a deadly place for children,” where constant Israeli bombardment, hunger, and medical collapse are pushing thousands toward death and despair.
“The reported killing of at least 45 children in the Gaza Strip in the last two days is yet another devastating reminder that children in Gaza are suffering first and foremost,” Beigbeder said. “They are having to starve day after day only to be victims of indiscriminate attacks.”
According to UN data, more than 950 children have been killed by Israeli airstrikes across Gaza in just the past two months.
The agency also warned that the Israeli blockade is choking the flow of humanitarian aid, denying children access to food, medicine, clean water, and lifesaving care.
“The threats to children’s lives go beyond bombs and bullets. The living conditions too, threaten their survival,” Beigbeder added, urging immediate action to end the violence and protect children from further harm.
UNICEF said children’s rights in Gaza are being violated on a massive scale, and called on the international community to act urgently to stop the suffering.
