Since ‘Israel’ rejected the latest ceasefire deal last week, it has resumed its shelling and bombing of civilian areas and even is back to old Gaza battlegrounds in Jabalia, north of Gaza, as if the war had just started.
On May 10th, Israeli drones threw papers on several areas of Jabalia demanding its people to evacuate the already invaded camp, leading to a repeated scenes of displacement of Palestinians from their houses, while other civilians remained steadfast in their camp as they have no where to go to.
The military operation in Jabalia has resulted in an onslaught against hundreds of innocent Palestinians, including children and women, as their homes are targeted while they sleep.
The intense bombardment killed dozens of Palestinians and injured others, who still lie in the streets as the army forces block ambulances and medical teams from reaching them or moving them to the hospitals.
Distress calls are still coming out from citizens still trapped under the bombardment, whom rescue teams have not been able to reach, according to local sources.
Communications are cut off from the camp, and Israeli occupation forces are still targeting objects that moves within and around the camp.
Israeli occupation forces also stormed Qleibo School in the eastern part of Jabalia, forcefully evacuated displaced families inside amid heavy gunfire, then set the school building on fire.
Other infrastructure has fatally been affected due to an intensive bombardment. Lately, Israeli occupation artillery shells targeted the gate of the UNRWA clinic in Jabalia refugee camp, wounding several people there.
Despite that, the Israeli occupation army has been trying to invade the central area of the camp for over fourth day in a raw, all but in vain, facing unyielding Palestinian resistance.
At least 20 military vehicles were targeted by the Palestinian resistance, and many Israeli soldiers were killed in face-to-face battles.
Additionally, more than 50 soldiers were injured in a single day in well-executed ambushes, as reported by Palestinian resistance factions.
According to the Israeli policy in the war, Jabalia camp is supposed to have been cleared months ago, yet with the army’s announcement of ground invasion in the camp and evacuation orders, doubts and questions have been sparked about the Netanyahu government’s stated aim of eliminating Hamas.
For the past few weeks, cabinet officials have urged Netanyahu to formulate a clear “day after” policy for Gaza, according to two security officials. However, he has insisted on achieving complete victory and pushed tanks into Rafah to beat the last fourt battalions of Hamas responding to to pressure from hard-right allies such as Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich.
Michael Milshtein, a former military intelligence officer and one of Israel’s most prominent experts on the Hamas movement said, “If we rely on a strategy of ongoing attrition or surgical operations against Hamas, it won’t achieve the goal of governmental or military collapse.”
The renewed fighting there – amid international pressure for a ceasefire – has underscored concern in ‘Israel’ that the lack of a clear strategic plan for Gaza will leave Hamas in effective control of the enclave it has ruled since 2007.
US Deputy Secretary of State, Kurt Campbell, declared on Monday that Washington doubted Israel would achieve “sweeping victory on the battlefield.”
