DayofPal—The Israeli army announced on Saturday the establishment of a “Yellow Line” in southern Lebanon, describing it as a security boundary similar to the one implemented in the Gaza Strip.
According to the army, the line serves as a demarcation zone where strict rules of engagement are enforced.
In a statement, Israeli forces claimed they had identified armed people approaching their positions near the line over the past 24 hours, alleging that the movement constituted a violation of the ceasefire and posed a direct threat.
This marks the first official reference to the “Yellow Line” since the truce came into effect in Lebanon.
Despite the ceasefire, the Israeli army said it retains the authority to act against perceived threats in the area.
Earlier, CNN reported, citing Israeli military officials, that authorities intend to prevent residents from returning to 55 towns and villages located within the designated zone in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah stated it had carried out more than 2,100 operations targeting Israeli sites over the past 45 days, extending as far as Tel Aviv.
Since March 2, Israeli army’s attacks in Lebanon have reportedly resulted in around 2,300 deaths, more than 7,500 injuries, and the displacement of over one million people, according to official figures.
A temporary 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon had been announced earlier this week by Donald Trump.
