Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) tightened Monday, February 20, 2023 the punitive measures of abuse and harassment of Jerusalemites, especially students, as they tried to pass through the military checkpoints in Shuafat and Qalandia.
The occupation forces has been imposing harsh punitive measures and thorough inspections of citizens at the Shuafat and Qalandia checkpoints, which caused a suffocating traffic jam and impeded students’ access to their schools.
Hundreds of Palestinian students lined up in long lines at the Shuafat and Qalandiya military checkpoints in the occupied Jerusalem, at a time when the occupation soldiers obstructed the passage of school buses and citizens’ vehicles through the checkpoint. IOF also sat up a barrier at the entrance to the tunnel connecting the towns of Biddu and Al-Jib, northwest of occupied Jerusalem.
The Shuafat camp, along with the towns of Al-Issawiya, Jabal Mukaber, Shuafat, Anata and Al-Tur camps, witnessed civil disobedience yesterday, Sunday, in protest of the escalating occupation crimes against Jerusalemites.
This civil disobedience step comes as a rejection of the occupation’s crimes, which aim to displace the Palestinians and empty the city of Jerusalemites.
