Israeli occupation court forced Thursday, 19 January 2023 a Palestinain resident to self-demolish his house in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources reported that the Israeli occupation court forced the Palestinain resident Mahran Al-Disi to self-demolish his 47-square-meter house located near the Mughrabi Gate to avoid paying a heavy fine.
Disi family house existed for more than fourteen years and houses 5 people.
In the same context, the Israeli occupation Local Planning and Building Committee in occupied Jerusalem approved a new route plan for the light rail linking east and west of occuiped Jerusalem in a preparatory step to confiscate and demolish more Jerusalemite homes.
Palestinian towns and villages in the occupied Jerusalem have seen increased demolition orders by Israeli forces, aiming to force the Palestinian residents to leave their own lands under the pretext of building without a permit.
In 2022, Israeli occupation forces forcibly demolished more than 209 inhabited Palestinain facilities in various areas of occuiped Jerusalem. Israeli occupation also confiscated a number of Palestinian-owned lands and properties in favor of Israeli settlers’ expansion most notably the land of Hamra in the Silwan neighborhood.
