Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) notified Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Palestinian citizens to stop work and construction on a house, a road, and other facilities, east of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.
Anti-settlement activist Osama Makhamreh stated that the occupation forces stormed the Deirat area, east of Yatta, and ordered them to stop work and construction on a 250-square-meter house belonging to the Palestinian citizen Mohammed Yasser al-Adra.
Makhamra added that the occupation forces notified citizens to stop work on a water well, a cesspit, and a cement wall belonging to Amjad Abu Aram, and took measurements of the one-story house of Sami Rasmi al-Adra, and the house of his son Bashir, which consists of three floors and an area of 500 square meters, in preparation for its demolition.
He pointed out that the occupation forces notified the village council of Khallet al-Mayah to stop work on the road that connects the areas of Al-Irfaiya and Al-Dirat, and serves a large number of Palestinian residents of that area.
Israeli occupation tries in various ways to forcibly displace Palestinians from their own lands and demolish their homes in favor of settlement expansion, using pretexts most notably building without a permit.
According to OCHA, Israeli occupation carries out the stop-construction and demolition orders under the pretext of lacking a building permit. The organization noted that “it is almost impossible for Palestinians to obtain such or that permit.”
