DaysofPal- The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have killed four children in Gaza within the past 48 hours, including four-year-old Fadi Najeeb Salah, who was shot while taking shelter with his father in the Fesh Farsh area of Khan Younis.
“Hide me, Baba,” were Fadi’s last words as he clung to his father during a night of intense Israeli gunfire that struck their tent, according to his father, Najeeb.
The boy fell asleep in his father’s arms before being fatally struck by a bullet that shattered his head.
“It was around 2 a.m., and the gunfire was intense. I held him close, and he slept,” Najeeb said. “The bullet was meant for me; I was protecting him, but it hit him instead.” He added.
He described the scene as horrifying: “I opened my eyes to an explosion near my head, and the bullet hit Fadi. His face was shattered, and blood was everywhere.”
The father, traumatized by the loss, said he plans to dismantle the tent and leave the area to try to safeguard his remaining children.
The attacks took place in areas of Rafah and Khan Younis designated as safe zones for displaced residents.
In addition to the four fatalities, 17 other displaced people were injured by Israeli gunfire in the same areas, underscoring the ongoing risks civilians face in Gaza even after the official end of hostilities.
Humanitarian groups warn that such incidents highlight the continued vulnerability of displaced populations and the urgent need for protection and safe access to essential services.
