DaysofPal- An investigative report published by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz has revealed that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have destroyed over half of Palestinian homes in Jenin camp in the occupied West Bank.
According to the report, approximately 52 percent of the camp’s buildings have been either completely or partially destroyed or rendered uninhabitable due to repeated Israeli airstrikes and large-scale bulldozing activities.
The findings point to unprecedented levels of devastation, significantly altering the camp’s urban landscape.
The destruction has forced an estimated 21,000 Palestinians to flee their homes, effectively emptying the camp of most of its residents.
Displaced families have sought refuge in nearby towns and surrounding areas, as living conditions inside the camp have become untenable.
Citing Israeli military sources, the newspaper reported that the Israeli occupation forces is implementing a plan to reshape the geography of the camp.
This includes demolishing densely packed residential blocks and widening roads to facilitate the movement of heavy armored military vehicles within the area.
Additionally, documents obtained during the investigation indicate that Israeli authorities have issued orders to confiscate land adjacent to the camp.
The aim is to establish a permanent military base and camp, marking what the report describes as an unprecedented move within Area A, territories that fall under Palestinian Authority control according to the Oslo Accords.
The report underscores growing concerns about the humanitarian consequences of the operations, as well as the long-term impact on the camp’s infrastructure and civilian population.
