Israeli occupation forces (IOF) confiscated on Thursday, November 17, 2022, hundreds of Palestinian-owned dunums in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem to build roads for Israeli settlements. Recent incidents took place in Hebron, Bethlehem, and Hizma village.
Local Palestinian sources reported that the Israeli occupation built a new settlement road in Tel Rumeida neighborhood in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron.
Tel Rumeida is in Hebron, which is under full control of IOF, where 400 colonial Israeli settlers are guarded by 1500 soldiers.
“Israeli bulldozed last night and Thursday morning Palestinian farms filled with olive trees in preparation to build a new road,” said Isa Amer, an activist in Youth Against Settlements organization.
Amer confirmed these actions as a violation of Palestinian properties and pose a threat to Romanian olive trees.
Israeli occupation deliberately plans to change the landmarks of Palestinian cities in the occupied West Bank. He also pointed out the acts are a flagrant assault on the Palestinian identity in the area.
In another violation, IOF took over 320 Palestinian dunums to expand the Israeli settlements in the Al-Khader town, and Nahalin and Irtas villages in Bethlehem.
In addition, the Israeli occupation intend to seize hundreds of dunums in northeast Jerusalem under the pretext of extending Hizma Street.
Israeli occupation promoted taking over the Palestinian lands in the area on several occasions, which will result to fragmented Palestinian territories.
Palestinian Municipality of East Jerusalem advised targeted Palestinian landowners to contact the municipality or visit the city hall to take legal measures. They warned that these actions will make Palestinian areas ‘scattered islands.’
