DaysofPal- Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) carried out artillery fire and air attacks across multiple parts of the Gaza Strip early Wednesday, in fresh breaches of the ceasefire in place since October 10.
Local sources reported that Israeli fighter jets conducted several airstrikes on Rafah in southern Gaza, while artillery bombardment hit the city’s eastern districts. Israeli military vehicles were also seen firing toward areas north of Rafah.
Elsewhere, artillery shells struck northeastern sections of Khan Younis, also in the south.
The incidents occurred amid persistent tensions despite the truce, with residents describing continued military operations in various locations throughout the enclave.
At the same time, Gaza’s Government Media Office said deaths linked to harsh winter conditions have climbed to seven children since the start of the cold season.
The office stated that from the beginning of the ongoing conflict through Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at least 24 displaced civilians have died from exposure to extreme cold, including 21 children, all of whom were living in temporary displacement shelters.
In its statement, the Media Office warned of “dire humanitarian repercussions” as another wave of severe cold hits Gaza under ongoing blockade conditions and extensive damage to housing and infrastructure.
It added that more than 1.5 million Palestinians have been forced into improvised shelters and camps without adequate means to meet basic survival needs.
Officials also released updated casualty figures, saying that since the ceasefire took effect on October 11, at least 447 Palestinians have been killed, 1,246 wounded, and 697 bodies recovered from beneath the rubble.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the overall death toll since the war began has reached 71,424, with 171,324 people injured, as rescue efforts continue to search for those still missing under collapsed buildings.
