Eight Wanted Individuals Surrender in Gaza in Response to Resistance Call

DaysofPal – A journalistic investigation has revealed that an armed man working with a militia led by Shuqy Abu Nusaira, a former officer in the Palestinian Authority, set out on the morning of December 14 to assassinate a senior security official in the Gaza Strip, following direct instructions from Israeli intelligence. The armed man was accompanied by another operative during the mission.

The investigation found that Ahmed Abdel Bari Zamzam, also referred to as “Abu Al-Majd,” the deputy head of the Internal Security Service in the central governorate of Gaza, was the intended target. An Israeli intelligence officer reportedly referred to him by the codename “the mechanic.”

Information obtained by the program indicated that Abu Al-Majd was directly responsible for monitoring militias cooperating with the occupation during the war of extermination and in its aftermath. He reportedly succeeded in penetrating some armed groups operating inside the so-called yellow line and persuaded several individuals involved in collaboration to surrender themselves.

Journalist Tamer Al-Misshal prepared an exclusive investigation for Al Jazeera, which included footage from a camera carried by one of the attackers involved in the operation. The images showed that the two operatives had received training in areas under Israeli control beyond the yellow line.

The investigation quoted one of the collaborators as saying that Saeed Abu Sitta and Nasser Abu Sitta informed him that his role was to “sit armed and ready and be prepared to open fire whenever operations take place,” adding that he agreed to the task.

One image showed the second gunman inside the militia’s headquarters at Al-Azmi School in the Al-Mazra’a area of central Gaza, indicating that both operatives entered from zones still under Israeli control.

The collaborator stated that on December 10 he met Abu Adham Nusaira, who selected him along with another individual to carry out the assassination. He said they were taken through the Kissufim crossing to an Israeli officer known as Abu Omar then transferred to the Kissufim military site, where they remained and received training in firing a Glock pistol and using a silencer.

He added that drones and quadcopters scanned the road ahead of them and guided their movements through the Israeli officer, who was receiving a live feed from a camera mounted on the collaborator’s clothing.

Infiltration and Assassination

Shortly before the operation was carried out, an unexpected incident nearly disrupted the plan, but the assassination was ultimately executed. During the withdrawal, communication between the operatives and the Israeli officer was cut off.

The loss of contact led to the arrest of the armed man carrying the camera that documented the operation. He had been recruited only one month earlier. The second gunman managed to escape into areas controlled by Israeli forces.

In his confession, which the investigation was able to review, the detained operative admitted his affiliation with the militia, stating that it included around 50 armed members. He said the group works to collect information on the locations of resistance tunnels and to assassinate individuals wanted by Israel’s internal security service, Shin Bet.

According to his testimony, the militia also carries out robberies of aid trucks, lures wanted individuals in order to hand them over to the occupation, and abducts the bodies of the dead while abusing them, all under the protection of Israeli forces and surveillance drones.
