DayofPal– The International Committee of the Red Cross and the World Health Organization have raised alarms about the escalating health and humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, exacerbated by ongoing Israeli aggression.
This Israeli attacks have halted civil defense and ambulance services, while crucial supplies of food, water, and medicine are barred from entering the area.
For 23 days straight, the Israeli occupying forces have unleashed relentless airstrikes, artillery fire, and gunfire across northern Gaza, particularly targeting the Jabalia refugee camp and Beit Lahiya.
This assault is being described as a systematic campaign of extermination, a grim reality laid bare for the world to witness.
Stephanie Eller, Deputy Head of the Red Cross Mission in Gaza, characterized the situation in northern Gaza as “extremely tragic,” calling for safe passage for those seeking to flee their locations.
She highlighted that the ongoing evacuation orders and persistent restrictions on essential supplies have plunged the remaining civilian population into dire conditions.
Eller also warned that the Israeli occupation army’s demands to evacuate hospitals threaten to create a critical void in medical services for many vulnerable civilians still in the area.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also painted a grim picture of northern Gaza, calling the situation “catastrophic.” He highlighted a critical lack of medical supplies, exacerbated by severe restrictions that are depriving people of essential treatments.
Tedros emphasized that Gaza’s entire healthcare system has been under relentless assault for over a year. He underscored the vital importance of safeguarding hospitals amidst Israeli genocide, asserting that any attack on medical facilities is a breach of international humanitarian law.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by the U.S., has unleashed a devastating campaign against Gaza, leading to over 143,000 Palestinian casualties, the majority of whom are women and children.
More than 10,000 remain unaccounted for, as the strip grapples with widespread destruction and famine, claiming the lives of countless children and the elderly.
This crisis stands as one of the most horrific humanitarian disasters in recent history.
