Hungary Denies Reports Regarding Moving Embassy to Jerusalem

S.K | DOP -

Hungarian President Katalin Novak refuted Saturday, March 4, 2023 allegations spread in Israeli media that Budapest was prepared to relocate its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem according to Reuters.

According to the Israeli news agency The Times of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a special gesture from his Hungarian colleague Viktor Orban as Hungary decided to relocate its Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

By this, Hungary would have been the first nation in the European Union to do so and establish an embassy there.

“In Hungary, a decision so far has not been made on moving our embassy in Israel,” Novak reportedly said during a press conference in the Czech Republic capital of Prague.

“An Israeli foreign ministry spokesman declined to comment,” according to Reuters.
