DaysofPal- The senior Hamas official, Hussam Badran, said that the Movement has fully honored its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, including the transfer of all Israeli captives stipulated in the deal, both those alive and the remains of those who died.
In media remarks, Badran said the recovery of the body of the final Israeli captive in Gaza removes what he described as the justifications used by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to delay or obstruct the implementation of the agreement.
Badran urged mediators and guarantor parties to step up their efforts and apply genuine pressure on Israel to ensure full compliance with the deal, warning that continued delays risk undermining the ceasefire and jeopardizing its sustainability, according to Al Jazeera.
He emphasized that Israel must be compelled to withdraw its forces from the Gaza Strip, allow the unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance, and reopen the Rafah crossing in both directions, describing these measures as fundamental obligations under the agreement.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli occupation forces, backed by the United States and several European countries, have waged a military campaign in Gaza that Palestinian sources describe as genocidal, involving widespread killings, starvation, mass displacement, destruction, and arrests, despite international calls and International Court of Justice orders to halt the offensive.
Palestinian officials say the campaign has left more than 243,000 people killed or injured, most of them women and children, along with over 11,000 reported missing and hundreds of thousands displaced.
Large-scale destruction has devastated Gaza’s cities and neighborhoods, while famine has claimed numerous lives.
