DaysofPal – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has condemned Israeli artillery shelling that struck the Al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, killing a number of civilians, most of them children. The movement said the attack is a “brutal crime” against innocent civilians and a blatant, renewed violation of the ceasefire agreement.
In a statement released early Saturday, Hamas said the Israeli occupation government continues to breach the ceasefire through the deliberate and ongoing targeting of civilians across the Gaza Strip. The movement noted that more than 400 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire was announced over two months ago.
Hamas added that these crimes are being carried out amid an alarming international failure and silence in the face of the occupation government’s actions, labeling the Israeli leadership as “fascist” for its continued conduct.
The movement further accused Israeli forces of worsening the humanitarian catastrophe by preventing ambulances and medical teams from reaching bombing sites and obstructing rescue operations. Such actions, Hamas said, constitute criminal behavior and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
Hamas renewed its call on the mediators, guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement, as well as the US administration, to assume their responsibilities and intervene urgently to halt attempts by the Netanyahu government to impose new realities that contradict the substance of the agreement and undermine it.
In a related incident, six Palestinians were killed and others wounded on Friday evening when Israeli shelling targeted a school sheltering displaced people in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood of eastern Gaza City.
Local sources reported that Israeli forces bombarded Gaza Martyrs School, located opposite Al-Durra Hospital, using artillery fire, smoke bombs, and live ammunition while a wedding ceremony was taking place inside the school. The attack resulted in multiple casualties.
Eyewitnesses said the shelling struck the school’s second floor during the wedding of a displaced family from Jabalia, leading to what they described as a massacre.
Israeli forces continue to launch strikes on various areas of the Gaza Strip, in ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement signed on October 10.
