DaysofPal- Hamas reaffirmed in a statement on Sunday its commitment to the ongoing ceasefire agreement with the Israeli occupation and vowed to press for a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.
The announcement followed a meeting in Istanbul between Khalil al-Hayya, deputy head of Hamas in Gaza, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, where the two discussed efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and advance post-war reconstruction.
According to the statement, Hamas pledged to fulfill all remaining obligations under the truce, including the location and repatriation of the bodies of Israeli captives and the implementation of measures aimed at stabilizing the situation in Gaza.
The Movement also reiterated its determination to achieve broader national objectives, including the formation of an independent Palestinian administrative body to govern Gaza and oversee reconstruction efforts.
“Hamas remains fully committed to the ceasefire framework and to ensuring that all its terms are completed, foremost among them the full withdrawal of Israeli forces and the lifting of the siege,” the statement read.
During the meeting, al-Hayya expressed appreciation for Turkey’s diplomatic role and for the mediation efforts led by Qatar and Egypt to maintain calm and support humanitarian operations in Gaza.
Hamas called on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation to respect the ceasefire terms, allow unrestricted humanitarian access, and end restrictions on aid and civilian movement.
Regional observers say the Istanbul discussions are part of a broader diplomatic push to stabilize Gaza and prevent a return to violence, as mediators seek lasting arrangements for governance, border control, and reconstruction in the war-battered enclave.
