DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has held Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for the Palestinian resistance’s decision to postpone the handover of Israeli captives who were scheduled for release on Saturday, February 15.
Hamas spokesman Abdul-Latif al-Qanu told Al Araby satellite channel on Monday evening that the Israeli government had violated the ceasefire agreement in recent weeks by blocking the entry of aid, fuel, and tents.
“The occupation is waging a new war on the population of Gaza through barring the entry of aid and continuing its siege on the Strip,” Qanu said.
He urged mediators to pressure the Israeli government into honoring the terms of the ceasefire agreement. He also noted that Hamas had appealed to mediators a week earlier, calling on them to ensure Israel complies with the first phase of the agreement.
Qanu reiterated that Hamas remains committed to the ceasefire as long as Israel abides by its terms.
In a Telegram post on Monday, Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Qassam Brigades, stated: “The handover of the Zionist prisoners who were slated for release next Saturday, February 15, 2025, will be postponed until further notice and until the occupation abides [by the terms of the ceasefire agreement] and compensates for the past weeks retroactively.
On January 19th, a ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange went into effect in the Gaza Strip. The agreement includes three 42-day phases. During the first phase, negotiations will take place to begin the second and third phases, mediated by Egypt and Qatar, with the support of the United States.
