DaysofPal – Hamas called on mediators and guarantor states of the Gaza ceasefire to intervene “seriously and urgently” to halt ongoing and escalating Israeli violations, as fresh strikes hit several parts of the Strip overnight and into Saturday morning.
In a statement issued by spokesperson Hazem Qassem, the movement said Israeli ground, naval, and aerial attacks had intensified throughout the night, accompanied by continued demolitions, “a continuation of an aggression that has never stopped,” the statement read.
According to medical sources at Nasser Hospital, Israeli shelling east of Khan Younis on Saturday morning killed two sibling children, Fadi and Jumaa Abu Asi, after they were targeted near Al-Farabi School in the town of Bani Suheila.
Qassem said the renewed bombardment proves that “the genocide against the people of Gaza is ongoing, and the firing has not stopped; its tempo has merely shifted.”
He urged Egypt, Qatar, and the countries participating in the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting to compel Israel to abide by its commitments under the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli forces intensified ground, naval, and air bombardment across several areas of Gaza during the early hours of Saturday, within zones currently under Israeli control, resulting in additional casualties.
Nasser Medical Complex confirmed that two children were killed by Israeli fire in Bani Suheila, inside the so-called “yellow zone” east of Khan Younis.
Emergency services also reported three Palestinians wounded after Israeli artillery and airstrikes hit the town of Al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Younis.
These attacks mark the latest in a series of violations of the ceasefire that took effect on October 10. According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, Israel has committed around 497 violations since then, killing more than 342 Palestinians.
Israel’s war on Gaza, which began on October 8, 2023, has resulted in over 69,000 Palestinians killed and more than 170,000 wounded, the vast majority women and children. The United Nations estimates the cost of rebuilding the devastated territory at $70 billion.
