The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas condemned on Thursday، 7 September 2023 Papua New Guinea’s decision to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem said that such a move was an infringement upon the Palestinian people’s rights and a blatant violation of international law and United Nations resolutions that recognize Jerusalem as a city under foreign occupation.
He urged Papua New Guinean authorities to immediately backtrack on this reprehensible decision.
Qasem reiterated that this unjustified action would not confer legitimacy upon the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem.
