DaysofPal- Hamas Movement marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Journalist on Friday by condemning the Israeli systematic targeting of journalists and media workers in the Gaza Strip since the start of the Israeli genocidal war nearly two years ago.
In a statement, Hamas said that 251 Palestinian journalists have been killed since October 2023 by Israeli occupation forces, which is “a heinous crime committed by the fascist Israeli occupation forces before the eyes and ears of the world.”
Hamas held the Israeli occupation and its main ally, the United States, “fully responsible for the crimes committed against Palestinian journalists and the wider civilian population in Gaza over the past 23 months.”
The Movement urged international journalist unions and press syndicates to step up their solidarity efforts, calling for a stronger global campaign to protect Palestinian media workers.
Rights groups, including the Committee to Protect Journalists, have previously described Gaza as the most dangerous place in the world for journalists since the war began, with dozens killed while reporting in the field, many alongside their families.
