Days of Palestine – Gaza
Hamas Movement extremely condemned Wednesday the Israeli occupation’s assassination of the Palestinian journalist for Al-Jazeera in Palestine, Shireen Abu Akleh.
In a statement, the movement confirmed that the assassination of Abu Akleh is premeditated murder and a flagrant violation of international law.
The movement condemned, in the strongest terms, the assassination and killing of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqila by the Zionist occupation forces, by targeting her with live bullets in the head, while she was covering the storming of Jenin refugee camp, and the injury of journalist Ali Al-Samoudi in the back.
“Targetting Abu Akleh, and all the journalists and media professionals who report the reality of the systematic terrorism that the Palestinian people are exposed to under occupation is a systematic execution of the freedom of expression,” the movement confirmed.
Hamas stressed that this heinous crime against the press and free speech puts the world and all international institutions before their responsibilities in condemning this crime and holding the occupation leaders accountable, who transgressed all values and all international norms and laws.
Meanwhile, Hamas praised Abu Akleh’s media works, its excellence in reporting events in Palestine, and highlighting the suffering of the Palestinian people under the Zionist occupation.
The movement stated that this crime will not succeed in obscuring the role of the media and free journalists in conveying the truth, the reality of the Zionist occupation, its brutality, terrorism, and crimes against people, land, and holy sites.
In its statement, Hamas Movement offered its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family of the martyr Sherine Abu Aqleh, the Al Jazeera Media Network, and all media institutions in the Arab and Islamic world and the world.
