GMO Refutes Israeli Claims About Yazidi Woman in Gaza
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

DaysofPal- Gaza’s Government Media Office (GMO) has strongly denounced a misleading narrative spread by Israeli military spokespersons concerning a Yazidi woman living in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement released on Friday, the office emphasized that the Israeli military is manipulating the truth in an attempt to sanitize its reputation amidst ongoing atrocities.

The media office provided clarity on the Yazidi woman’s story, refuting Israeli allegations that she had been forcibly held against her will.

Initially, she married a Palestinian man from Khan Yunis who fought with the Syrian opposition. After his death in Syria, she chose to travel with her late husband’s mother to Turkey then to Egypt before ultimately settling in Gaza.

Years later, she remarried her late husband’s brother, who tragically lost his life in the ongoing Israeli military campaign in Gaza.

After the death of her second husband, the woman turned to the Palestinian authorities for safety. The media office confirmed that the government offered her secure housing, food, and essential supplies, alongside other foreign nationals seeking refuge amid the ongoing Israeli genocide.

The Office statement also highlighted that a 25-year-old woman expressed her wish to leave Gaza amid the escalating Israeli bombardment.

After reaching out to her family, arrangements were made for her safe departure, coordinated between Jordanian authorities and Israeli forces at the Kerem Abu Salem crossing.

The GMO firmly rejected the Israeli assertion that she had been “rescued,” clarifying that her departure was fully understood and supported by both her late husband’s family and the Palestinian government.

“The narrative Israel is trying to sell is baseless,” the office stated. “This woman crossed several international airports and borders without issue—how could she have been ‘kidnapped’ as Israel claims?”

The media office condemned the Israeli military for the ruthless killing of the woman’s husband, calling it a war crime.

“This is the same military that has transformed her life into a tragedy, leaving her a widow. Israel’s actions have shattered countless families in Gaza, impacting many foreign nationals as well,” the statement declared.

The office urged the media and international community to reject Israel’s false narratives, which serve as a distraction from its atrocities.

“We call on global media outlets to see through Israel’s efforts to sanitize its bloody image. The world must acknowledge and condemn the ongoing crimes against humanity in Gaza, which indiscriminately target civilians, including foreign nationals,” the statement asserted.

The GMO concluded by holding both Israel and the U.S. government responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging for immediate international intervention to stop the genocide.
