DayofPal– The sheer scale of devastation in Gaza has reached unfathomable levels. The Government Media Office in Gaza has officially declared Gaza a disaster zone, warning that its basic survival systems have collapsed.
On Sunday, it reported that Israel’s ongoing genocide has claimed the lives of more than 61,000 people, leaving over two million displaced in what has become one of the deadliest assaults on a civilian population in modern history.
At a press conference held at Al-Shifa Hospital, officials said 47,487 bodies have arrived at hospitals, while 14,222 remain missing, buried under rubble or left in the streets.
The wounded now total 111,588, their suffering exacerbated by the collapse of Gaza’s medical infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces have kidnapped over 6,000 Palestinians, subjecting them to severe abuse and torture.
Many have died in custody. Forced displacement has turned two million people into refugees in their own land, some forced to flee more than 25 times, with nowhere safe to go.
A War on Women and Children
The genocide has struck at the heart of Gaza’s future—its children. Among the martyrs, at least 17,881 are children, including 214 newborns who perished amid the bombings.
More than 38,000 children have been orphaned, with 17,000 losing both parents. Israeli forces have also killed 12,316 women, leaving shattered families and communities behind.
Entire bloodlines have been wiped from existence. The report documented 9,268 massacres against families, with 2,092 families completely erased from civil records. In another 4,889 cases, only one survivor remains—a solitary witness to the obliteration of their entire family.
First Responders and Journalists Under Fire
Nowhere and no one is safe. Israeli airstrikes have killed 1,155 medical workers, targeting the very people struggling to save lives.
Journalists have paid a heavy price as well. 205 have been killed while reporting on the horrors unfolding in Gaza.
Meanwhile, 194 civil defense personnel who rushed to rescue the injured and recover bodies have also lost their lives.
The destruction extends to Gaza’s homes. Over 150,000 housing units have been damaged, leaving countless families without shelter. The transportation sector alone has suffered $1.5 billion in losses, paralyzing movement and aid efforts.
A War on Education
Israel’s war has not spared Gaza’s schools, turning education into another casualty. The report revealed that 1,661 educational institutions have been hit, with 927 completely destroyed, including schools, universities, and daycare centers. Another 734 have suffered partial damage.
The human toll on education is staggering: 12,800 students and nearly 800 educators have been killed. Around 785,000 students have been robbed of their right to learn, their futures stolen by war.
A Humanitarian Disaster Like No Other
The Government Media Office has officially declared Gaza a disaster zone, warning that its basic survival systems have collapsed. With 2.4 million people at risk of starvation, dehydration, and disease, officials are urging the world to intervene before it is too late.
The office placed full responsibility on Israel, the Biden administration, and all those who have politically, economically, and militarily supported the assault.
In the face of this devastation, Gaza’s authorities are pushing forward with a post-war reconstruction plan, working alongside local and international organizations.
They are calling for urgent relief, including the immediate entry of 200,000 tents, 60,000 mobile homes, and essential shelter supplies.
As the world watches, Gaza’s people fight for survival. The question remains: Will the world act before an entire nation is lost?
