DaysofPal – Two years after Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza, the Government Media Office has reported that nearly 90 percent of the Palestinian Strip lies in ruins, calling the destruction an “ongoing genocide” that has devastated both the population and its institutions.
The anniversary report detailed the collapse of Gaza’s health system: 38 hospitals and 96 health centers were destroyed, 197 ambulances were put out of service, and a total of 788 health facilities were struck. Israeli occupation forces now hold control over about 80 percent of the territory through a combination of incursions, forced displacement, and heavy bombardment.
Since the start of the war, the Israeli occupation army has dropped more than 200,000 tons of explosives on Gaza. Education has been left in shambles, with 95 percent of schools damaged, 165 educational buildings completely leveled, and a staggering human loss that includes 13,500 students, 830 teachers, and 193 academics and researchers.
The human cost has soared to 76,639 killed or missing, with 9,500 still unaccounted for. Another 169,583 people have been injured, including 4,800 amputees and 1,200 left paralyzed. The war has erased entire bloodlines, with 2,700 families wiped from the civil registry. More than 12,000 miscarriages have been recorded due to lack of food and medical care, and at least 460 people have died from starvation and malnutrition.
Infrastructure has been systematically dismantled: 725 water wells destroyed, along with 5,080 kilometers of electricity lines, 700,000 meters of sewage and water systems, and three million meters of roads. The bombardment also flattened 247 government offices, 292 sports facilities, and 208 heritage sites.
The agricultural sector has been devastated, with 94 percent of farmland ruined and fish stocks entirely eliminated. Vegetable production has plummeted from 405,000 tons annually to just 28,000 tons.
The media office estimated direct financial losses across 15 critical sectors at $70 billion, including $28 billion in housing, $5 billion in health, and $4 billion in education, $4.5 billion in trade, and $2.8 billion in agriculture, along with enormous damage to electricity, communications, and public services.
“These numbers reveal the scope of an unprecedented humanitarian disaster in Gaza,” the statement concluded, urging the international community to step in and end “the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.”
