DaysofPal- The Ministry of Health in Gaza has strongly condemned what it described as misleading media narratives that distort facts and absolve Israel of responsibility for blocking the travel of patients and the wounded outside the Gaza Strip.
In an official statement, the ministry addressed specific claims made against its staff, the Medical Referrals Committee, and the World Health Organization. According to the statement, these allegations lack professional evidence or investigation. The Ministry contends that these narratives aim to mislead public opinion and undermine organizations that operate transparently to save lives in extreme humanitarian conditions.
The ministry stressed that attempts to clear Israel of direct responsibility for preventing patients from traveling for treatment and for the deterioration of their medical and humanitarian conditions represent an unacceptable alignment with its narrative. It warned that such efforts mislead public opinion at a time when Israel is seeking to evade international accountability.
Only 420 patients, or less than 70 patients per month on average, have been evacuated for treatment over the last six months, according to the ministry. In contrast, more than 21,500 patients remain in urgent need of medical care outside Gaza.
The statement highlighted the absence of an effective mechanism to ensure the rapid transfer of critical and intensive care cases, leaving many on long waiting lists.
The ministry urged media outlets and the public to meticulously verify information and refrain from engaging in claims that perpetuate misleading narratives. It also reaffirmed its readiness to receive complaints or observations and to address them with full transparency and responsibility.
