DaysofPal – Palestinian health officials reported on Thursday that Israeli attacks on the enclave persisted despite an ongoing ceasefire agreement, with hospitals in Gaza reporting one new death and thirteen injuries over the previous 24 hours. Medical officials said the latest casualty brings the steadily rising death toll higher amid worsening humanitarian and weather conditions.
Rescue teams cautioned that the actual number of casualties might be higher, pointing out that a number of people are still buried beneath debris or stranded on roads that are inaccessible to ambulances and civil defense personnel, who are still subject to severe movement restrictions.
Israeli occupation forces carried out airstrikes early Thursday, targeting areas east of Rafah and Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, where Israeli troops are deployed. Air raids and gunfire from Israeli helicopters later resumed east of Khan Younis, further escalating the situation.
The renewed attacks come as Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement through bombardment of areas both inside and outside its deployment zones. These violations are unfolding amid harsh winter conditions, compounded by severe restrictions on humanitarian aid imposed by Israeli authorities.
Earlier, ambulance and emergency services reported that 11 Palestinians were injured in an Israeli drone strike that targeted a group of civilians in Gaza City, an area from which Israeli forces had previously withdrawn under the ceasefire.
Medical sources confirmed that all 11 wounded were transferred to hospitals across the Strip, while eyewitnesses said an artillery shell struck the middle of a civilian gathering in the al-Samar area of Gaza City.
Since the ceasefire came into effect on 11 October 2025, Palestinian health officials say at least 395 people have been killed, 1,088 wounded, and 634 bodies recovered from beneath the rubble, underscoring the continued human cost despite the supposed halt in hostilities.
The broader toll of Israel’s war on Gaza continues to climb. According to Palestinian health authorities, 70,669 Palestinians have been killed and 171,165 wounded since 7 October 2023.
Hospitals also confirmed the death of one-month-old Saeed Asaad Abdeen due to extreme cold, raising the number of weather-related fatalities to 13. Health officials warned that ongoing bombardment, displacement, and aid restrictions are turning winter conditions into a deadly threat, particularly for infants and displaced families.
