DaysofPal- The Gaza Civil Defense has sounded the alarm over a deepening humanitarian disaster, revealing that nearly 10,000 Palestinians remain buried beneath the rubble of buildings destroyed in the ongoing Israeli attacks on the besieged enclave.
In a statement on Friday, Civil Defense officials said rescue teams have so far managed to recover only around 260 bodies, despite working nonstop amid severe shortages of equipment and fuel.
They described the situation as “catastrophic beyond description,” noting that the international community was displaying double standards in its response to Palestinian victims compared to Israeli casualties.
“Entire families are still trapped under the ruins, and every day we receive desperate pleas from relatives asking us to recover their loved ones,” one spokesperson said.
“But we simply lack the machinery, the manpower, and the international support to respond.” He added.
Officials warned that continued Israeli bombardments, combined with the absence of modern rescue technologies and international inaction, are costing countless lives that might still be saved.
The Civil Defense called on global humanitarian agencies and governments to intervene immediately by providing heavy rescue equipment, thermal imaging devices, and specialized teams capable of operating under the relentless airstrikes and devastation.
“This is not just a natural disaster, it is a man-made catastrophe,” the statement read.
“The world cannot claim ignorance as thousands remain entombed under concrete, waiting for help that never comes.” It noted
The warning underscores the growing frustration among Gaza’s rescue workers and civilians as the death toll from the Israeli bombardment surpasses tens of thousands, with entire neighborhoods flattened and humanitarian operations crippled by the ongoing siege.
