DaysofPal- Human rights advocates and Palestinian scholars are raising alarms over the dire condition of Palestinians recently released from Israeli prisons.
According to reports, the detainees are suffering from both severe physical injuries and deep psychological trauma, after enduring what is being described as systematic torture, physical assaults, and sexual abuse during their two-year imprisonment.
Basil Farraj, a professor at Birzeit University, stated that since October 2023, Palestinians have been subjected to “one of the most vicious waves of mistreatment and dehumanization ever witnessed in Israeli detention centers.”
Farraj also stressed that releasing a few prisoners does not signal an end to the broader crisis, as thousands of Palestinians remain incarcerated in harsh, inhumane conditions, lacking proper medical treatment, legal protections, and family contact.
Human rights groups are continuing to call for international oversight of Israeli prisons and accountability for what they describe as state-backed torture, underscoring that the brutality of this ongoing conflict reaches far beyond the physical destruction in Gaza.
