French Foreign Ministry condemned on Monday, 22 May 2023 Israel’s decision to establish the illegal settlement of ‘Homesh’.
The ministry asserted that Israel’s establishment of the new Israeli settlement of ‘Homesh’ violates international law.
Earlier this week, Israeli occupation minister Yoav Gallant officially signed a decision allowing settlers to return to the evacuated illegal settlement of Homesh, south of Jenin in the West Bank after 18 years of its evacuation.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation forces evacuated the “Homesh” settlement in 2005, coinciding with its defeat from the Gaza Strip and kept the location of the settlement as a closed military zone.
Moreover, Israeli occupation prevented the Palestinian residents from restoring, reclaiming, or cultivating their lands within the borders of the settlement.
The Israeli settlement of ‘Homesh’ was established in 1982 on hundreds of stolen Palestinian dunums in the Jabal Al-Qabibat area in the lands of the towns of Barqa, north of Nablus, and Wasila Al-Dhahr, south of Jenin.
