A Palestinian boy who was shot in the eye by an Israeli occupation forces rubber-coated metal bullet on yesterday, Friday, has lost his eye after undergoing surgery today.

Khaled Akram Malalha, 5, was in his father’s vehicle near the village of Bazaria, northwest of Nablus, when he was hit by the bullet during clashes that erupted between Israeli occupation forces and Palestinian protesters.

He was rushed to al-Najah Hospital in Nablus, where doctors decided to remove his eye due to the extent of the damage.

The boy’s father, Akram Malalha, said that his son was not involved in the protests and that they were on their way to visit relatives when the shooting occurred.

He said he heard a loud bang and saw his son bleeding from his eye. He said he tried to stop the bleeding with his shirt and drove quickly to the hospital.

He accused the Israeli occupation forces of deliberately targeting children and civilians with live and rubber bullets.

The Israeli occupation military claimed that it used “riot dispersal means” to quell the protests.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned the shooting of the child and called for holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its violations of human rights and international law.

In 2022, Israeli occupation forces killed 42 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
