In a deadly escalation in the West Bank, Israeli occupation forces killed five Palestinians during raids in Tubas and its surrounding areas early Wednesday morning.
One of the victims was Fayeq Abu Amer Daraghmeh, a recently released prisoner. Daraghmeh was killed after Israeli forces bombed his home in the Jisr area of Tubas following hours of exchange of fire. His body was taken by Israeli forces, who continue to withhold it.
Three other young men were killed in a drone strike by Israeli forces in the town of Tammoun, southeast of Tubas. The Israeli military also seized their bodies, preventing medical teams from accessing them.
The governor of Tubas, Ahmed Saleh, confirmed that Israeli forces now control all major routes in the city, restricting access to the Turkish Hospital—the only hospital in the area.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that Israeli forces are deliberately seizing the bodies of those killed and wounded, blocking medical teams from reaching them in Tubas.
Medical sources have also indicated that the Israeli military is currently isolating the Turkish Hospital from the rest of the city to prevent injured Palestinians from receiving treatment.
The raid began in the early hours of Wednesday when Israeli forces stormed Tubas, located in the northeastern West Bank. Armed resistance fighters responded with gunfire and explosives.
According to local residents, the Israeli forces surrounded Daraghmeh’s home, firing Energa grenades at the building during prolonged clashes with local fighters.
After an eight-hour assault, which included gun battles and airstrikes, Israeli forces withdrew from Tubas and Tammoun, leaving behind five dead.
