DaysofPal- Five Palestinians were killed on Saturday in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement by Israeli occupation forces.
According to local sources, four members of the al-Safadi family were killed and several others injured when an Israeli strike targeted their apartment in Gaza City’s al-Thalathini Street at dawn. The victims were identified as Hussein al-Safadi, his wife, and their two daughters.
Shortly thereafter, another fatal strike was recorded near the Al-Saftawi intersection in northern Gaza City, claiming the life of a fifth civilian. Concurrently, heavy military activity surged along the coastline and southern boundaries; Israeli tanks positioned south of Al-Mawasi in Rafah and southern Khan Younis opened fire, while naval warships launched intensive barrages across the southern waters of the Gaza Strip.
Israeli occupation forces have continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in Gaza through air and artillery attacks targeting areas sheltering displaced civilians. The violations have also included demolition and destruction operations within the “yellow line,” alongside continued restrictions on the movement of goods, humanitarian aid, and travel.
According to data released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10 of last year has risen to 1,014, while 3,165 others have been injured. The ministry also reported 784 recovered bodies during the same period.
The overall toll of Israel’s genocidal campaign since October 7, 2023, has reached approximately 73,025 killed and 173,273 injured, according to the ministry’s figures.
The human cost of these continuous violations has drawn sharp condemnation from international bodies. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) issued a stark assessment, characterizing the ceasefire implemented last October as a “deadly illusion” for children and youth.
UNICEF spokesperson James Elder stated that 265 minors have been killed since the ceasefire took effect, with more than 90 percent of those deaths resulting from Israeli attacks. He added that some children were also killed by unexploded ordnance scattered among the rubble across Gaza.
“These children were not killed in a war zone,” Elder said. “They were killed in their homes, in their schools, while playing football, and while fishing. They have been killed, shelled, and targeted by Israeli quadcopter drones.”
The remarks underscore growing international concern over the continued loss of civilian lives in Gaza despite the ceasefire, particularly among children, as military operations and restrictions persist across the besieged territory.
