DaysofPal- Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor revealed that the Israeli airstrikes on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, which killed at least 20 people, including a doctor, a firefighter, five journalists, and several civilians, are a heinous, complete war crime.
It added that the attack highlights the ongoing Israeli genocidal campaign in Gaza, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.
At around 10 a.m., a missile struck the fourth floor of Building C (Emergency), killing Reuters cameraman Hussam al-Masri and another civilian. Minutes later, as civil defense teams and journalists rushed to the site, a second strike hit, killing Dr. Mohammed al-Habibi, firefighter Abdullah al-Shaer, and journalists Mohammed
Salama (Al Jazeera), Mariam Abu Daqa (The Independent Arabic/AP), Moaz Abu Taha (freelance), and Ahmed Abu Aziz (local), among others.
At least 10 more, including reporters and rescue workers, were severely injured.
Eyewitnesses reported an Israeli surveillance drone hovering overhead before the strikes, confirming the attack was deliberate and based on prior intelligence.
This Israeli tactic, known as a “double-tap,” aims not only to maximize civilian deaths but also to kill first responders, medical staff, and journalists, effectively turning rescue operations into death traps.
The assault targeted a protected medical facility, killed patients and doctors, silenced journalists, and struck rescue crews, which are acts that constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor noted that such attacks form part of a systematic policy aimed at dismantling Gaza’s essential structures of survival: healthcare, media, and civil defense.
International inaction has emboldened the Israeli occupation, allowing it to continue its crimes with impunity.
Euro-Med called on the UN General Assembly to urgently invoke Resolution 377 (V) “Uniting for Peace” to deploy peacekeeping forces in Gaza, protect civilians, and secure humanitarian access.
States have a legal and moral duty to halt this genocide by enforcing international law, ensuring compliance with International Court of Justice rulings, and executing International Criminal Court arrest warrants for Israeli leaders.
It also noted that sanctions must be imposed—economic, diplomatic, and military, including weapons bans, suspension of political and financial cooperation, freezing assets of implicated officials, and trade restrictions—adding that without decisive global action, over two million Palestinians in Gaza remain exposed to systematic annihilation.
