The Special Representative of the European Union for Human Rights, Eamonn Gilmour, called Wednesday, June 7, for holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its violations against the Palestinian people and providing protection for Palestinian civilians, especially children.
He expressed his condolences to the family of the slain child, Mohammad Al-Tamimi, 2, who died last Monday as a result of being shot by the Israeli occupation forces in the village of Nabi Saleh, north of Ramallah.
This came during a meeting organized by Jerusalemite human rights organizations and the European Union office in occupied Jerusalem in Ramallah.
Gilmour stressed the European Union’s attitude that Israeli settlements, Palestinian home demolitions, and forced displacement of Palestinians are illegal.
He pointed out that the European Union will continue to work to protect human rights in Palestine and support Palestinian human rights institutions and civil society.
Gilmour called on the European Union and the international community for holding the Israeli occupation accountable for its crimes against our people and to bring the perpetrators to international justice.
