A group of 43 EU legislators stated Friday, September 16, 2022 that “Sherine Abu Aqleh” is one of the most prominent correspondents in the Arabic-speaking world as she was a true believer in freedom of expression choosing press to be close to people.
Dozens of European Parliament members have nominated in early September, 2022the martyred Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh for the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought as she ranked European Union’s highest honor for human rights defenders.
Noting that if the veteran Palestinian journalist, Abu Aqleh recieved the award posthumously, it would be the first time this award is given to a Palestinian.
