Egypt and Saudi Arabia strongly condemned Israel’s decision to halt the entry of humanitarian aid and goods into Gaza, denouncing the move as a violation of international law and an act of collective punishment.
The Israeli occupation government announced the blockade on Sunday, just as the holy month of Ramadan begins, citing stalled negotiations for the second phase of a ceasefire deal. The decision follows Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s refusal to engage in further diplomatic talks.
In a statement, Netanyahu’s office claimed the blockade was a response to Hamas rejecting a U.S.-proposed temporary truce for Ramadan, an agreement Israel insists was never finalized.

However, humanitarian organizations warn that the decision will exacerbate the already dire conditions in Gaza, where millions face food and medical shortages.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel’s actions, accusing it of weaponizing humanitarian aid to exert pressure on Palestinians.
“This decision constitutes a blatant violation of international law and a direct assault on the principles of international humanitarian law, especially in light of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza,” the statement read.
Saudi Arabia urged the international community to take immediate action to halt these violations and activate mechanisms for holding Israel accountable while ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian assistance.
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also denounced Israel’s decision, labeling it a flagrant breach of the ceasefire agreement, international humanitarian law, and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
“There is no justification—legal, moral, or logical—for starving innocent civilians and imposing a siege on them, particularly during Ramadan,” the statement emphasized.
Egypt called on the global community to uphold its responsibilities by condemning Israel’s illegal and inhumane actions and preventing the use of civilians’ suffering as a political bargaining tool.
As humanitarian conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, pressure is mounting on world leaders to intervene and prevent further escalation.
