The Supreme Follow-up Committee in the occupied Palestinian territories announced Thursday, June 9, 2023, a general strike tomorrow, Friday, in protest of the recent increasing number of crimes, holding the Israeli occupation government fully responsible for such an increase.
A recent Israeli media report revealed a sharp increase in the death toll of crimes committed in the first four months of 2023 among Palestinians in the occupied territories following the extremist Itamar Ben Gvir assuming the chair of the Ministry of National Security.
According to recent statistics, in the first four months of 2023, and after Itamar Ben Gvir took over as Minister of National Security, the number of deaths due to crimes committed among Israelis and Palestinians in occupied territories abruptly increased, compared to the same period last year.
According to the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz”, the death toll has reached 78 so far in 2023, compared to 34 in the same period of time in 2022, considering the number recorded as the highest in several decades.
This escalation in the crime index comes in light of the accusations by Israeli institutions of the complicity of the occupation security system in such crimes and its involvement in supporting the perpetrators, as part of a scheme to dismantle the social fabric of the Palestinians.
