DaysofPal- At least 31 Palestinians have been killed and more than 50 others wounded in a new wave of Israeli bombings across the Gaza Strip, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.
These recent strikes have pushed the overall death toll since October 2023 to a staggering 45,885, with around 109,196 more individuals injured in the ongoing conflict.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Gaza Health Ministry described the latest attacks as “massacres” that targeted families, with 31 fatalities and 57 injuries reported in the last 24 hours alone. “Many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the statement added.
Local reports indicate heavy bombardment in various parts of the Gaza Strip. Israeli tanks shelled the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in southwestern Gaza City, causing widespread destruction to homes and infrastructure. In the southern region, the northwestern areas of Rafah city experienced intense artillery shelling, while Israeli forces also targeted the town of al-Fakhari, east of Khan Yunis, leaving civilians injured.
As of Tuesday, medical sources reported that the death toll had risen to 28 following Israeli airstrikes that hit multiple locations, including a shelling attack on a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Meanwhile, several people were injured when Israeli artillery targeted a tent sheltering displaced persons in the Maghazi camp.
On Monday, Israeli bombardments wounded about 40 individuals near the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, including children, and more casualties were reported in the al-Mawasi area near Khan Yunis. These continuous attacks have devastated the civilian population, exacerbating an already dire situation.
Adding to the crisis, the Gaza Government Media Office reported that eight displaced Palestinians have died from the severe cold in recent weeks. It warned that the death toll could rise further as humanitarian conditions deteriorate. In a statement, the office held the Israeli occupation, the U.S. administration, and other countries that have supported the ongoing violence responsible for the worsening crisis.
“We call on international organizations, as well as Arab and Muslim nations, to urgently intervene and save the civilians in Gaza,” the statement urged.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is rapidly worsening as the conflict continues to unfold. Hospitals are overwhelmed by the rising number of casualties, and there is a critical shortage of medical supplies.
Meanwhile, the civilian population is struggling with food and potable water shortages, leading to fears of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe. The ongoing shelling has also caused extensive damage to infrastructure and left thousands more displaced, with many unable to find shelter or essential supplies.
