Cuba’s president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, has denounced the ongoing brutal atrocities carried out by the Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip for the 178th day in a raw, calling on the international community to take action to end the “genocide” in Gaza.
On Saturday, he said that “Cuba demands that the genocide stop now”, sharing a photo of the Palestinian flag being projected onto the Jose Marti Memorial in the capital Havana.
On X, Diaz-Canel wrote: “As long as Palestinian land continues to be martyred, bled, destroyed to its foundations by the hatred of the Israeli occupier, we cannot tire of denouncing the crime and calling on the international community.”
Miguel Diaz-Canel has been one of the world leaders who consistently expressed his imminent support for Palestine and Palestinians, meanwhile, he voiced the strongest opposition to Israel’s military onslaught on Gaza six months ago.
In another sign of support, the Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said last December that America’s use of its “shameful veto” power at the UN is prolonging “the genocide in Gaza.”
He also condemned the deliberate target of Gaza journalists by Israeli forces, saying “For every journalist killed in Gaza, thousands more will use their noble tools as weapons to denounce Israel’s crimes.”
