Director of Israel’s intelligence agency David Barnea landed in Qatar to resume Gaza ceasefire and captives release talks,
The talks are likely to take place on Friday, where Barnea will meet with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, in an effort to bring together Israel and Hamas, a source with knowledge of the talks told Reuters on Thursday.
Senior US official says there’s a ‘major breakthrough’ in indirect negotiations after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given the green light for an Israeli negotiating team to conduct talks with mediators in Qatar, according to Israeli media.
Hamas responded Wednesday evening to the latest proposal and its chief Ismail Haniyeh “exchanged some ideas” with mediating parties in order to stop “aggression against Palestinians in Gaza.”
Ceasefire talks on Friday coincide with Israeli army deadly attacks on Gaza and Jabalia which led to the killing of dozens people, including at least three children.
Palestinian death toll has topped 38,000, according to Gaza government media sources.
