US President Joe Biden conceded on Wednesday evening that the munitions supplied by the United States to ‘Israel’, albeit now halted, were utilized to kill Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
In an interview with CNN, President Biden underscored his stance, asserting that he would suspend arms deliveries to ‘Israel’ should its forces encroach upon Rafah.
He emphasized that the cessation of such shipments would ensue should ‘Israel’ invade into Rafah, highlighting the potential repercussions of utilizing historically employed weaponry in densely populated areas.
Specifically addressing the utilization of 2,000-pound bombs, whose deliveries he recently paused, Biden underscored the gravity of civilian casualties resulting from Israeli military operations.
He further reiterated his commitment to ensuring Israel’s security, particularly through the provision of defensive mechanisms such as the Iron Dome system. However, he categorically denounced the supply of offensive munitions and artillery shells conducive to civilian murder.
“We’re going to continue to make sure Israel is secure in terms of Iron Dome and their ability to respond to attacks that came out of the Middle East recently,” he said. “But it’s, it’s just wrong. We’re not going to – we’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells.”
While acknowledging Israel’s military invasion in Rafah, Biden asserted that they had yet to transgress a threshold warranting intervention.
Moreover, he outlined ongoing efforts to collaborate with Arab nations in facilitating Gaza’s reconstruction and fostering a transition towards a viable two-state solution in the aftermath of the war, which was also mentioned in new plan documents leaked from Netanyahu’s office on Wednesday.
According to New York Times, the United States has provided ‘Israe’l with weapons and ammunition worth $158.7 billion since Israel’s establishment.
Since October 7th, Israeli occupation forces have killed approximately 40000 Palestinians in Gaza using American ammunition.
