DaysofPal- Hussam Badran, a member of the political bureau of Hamas, warned on Tuesday of growing challenges facing the West Bank in light of ongoing Israeli actions and attacks by settlers targeting Palestinians and their property.
Badran stressed the need to strengthen a unified national position to confront the challenges affecting Palestinians in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. He also outlined the movement’s vision for addressing current conditions and responding to these pressures.
His remarks came during a forum organized by the Palestinian Media Institution (FEMED), where he discussed developments in national relations, particularly with the Palestinian Authority, and the obstacles facing this path.
Badran pointed to ongoing communication between Hamas and various Palestinian factions across Gaza, the West Bank, and abroad. He emphasized what he described as strong field and political coordination among resistance groups.
He added that continuous contact between Hamas and other factions aims to reinforce a unified national stance on political developments and key issues affecting Palestinians.
Badran also noted that Hamas has sought to reach joint positions with other factions on proposals presented by Nikolay Mladenov during his meetings with the movement, including the movement’s broader implications and details.
In a similar vein, the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC) documented an ongoing increase in attacks by settlers throughout the West Bank. It said that 12 Palestinians have been killed in such attacks since the beginning of the current year, bringing the total since October 2023 to 47.
The commission said in an earlier statement that between late February and late March, settlers launched 443 attacks. These incidents included live fire, arson targeting property, and attempts to establish new settlement outposts. During that period, nine Palestinians were killed, alongside widespread destruction of land and crops and the outbreak of fires.
The West Bank has experienced sustained escalation since October 2023, involving both Israeli occupation forces and settlers. According to available data, more than 1,148 Palestinians have been killed, around 11,750 injured, and approximately 22,000 detained. The escalation has also included home demolitions, destruction of infrastructure, displacement of residents, and continued expansion of settlements.
