Appeals to evacuate two critically injured journalists in Gaza

DaysofPal- Journalists and human rights activists launched a solidarity campaign on Friday calling for the urgent travel of wounded journalists Fadi al-Wahidi and Ali al-Attar to receive medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip.

The campaign was started as Wahidi and Attar’s health significantly deteriorated, according to Anas as-Sharif, the Al Jazeera channel’s correspondent in northern Gaza. He also mentioned that they were hurt in Israeli attacks while covering field events in Gaza approximately 40 days prior.

The Government Media Office (GMO) of Gaza, for its part, urged all Arab and international parties to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation government to open Gaza crossings so injured journalists can receive medical care overseas.

Ismail Thawabta, the director of GMO, denounced the Israeli occupation army’s continued targeting and murder of Palestinian journalists in press statements on Friday.

Thawabta called on the international community and its organizations to take legal action against the Israeli occupation regime to hold it accountable for its ongoing war crimes and pressure it to stop its genocide in Gaza.

Wahidi and Attar have not been permitted to leave Gaza by the Israeli army, despite requests from three media freedom organizations.
Over 130 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since the start of the war. At least 33 of them were targeted while working.
