DayofPal– Abu Obaida, The spokesman for Al-Qassam Brigades, announced that the release of Israeli prisoners, which was scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025, has been postponed until further notice.
He stated that the delay would remain in effect “until the Israeli occupation fulfills its commitments and compensates the breach of ceasefire for past weeks’ obligations retroactively.”
Abu Obaida emphasized that the Gaza resistance remains committed to the terms of the agreement as long as the Israeli occupation adheres to them.
Hamas spokesperson Abdel Latif Al-Qanoua confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is responsible for the decision to delay the prisoner exchange.
In an interview with Al-Araby TV, Al-Qanoua explained that Israel violated the ceasefire agreement in recent weeks by preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, fuel, and tents into Gaza.
He accused Israel of waging a new form of war against Gaza’s residents by maintaining a tight blockade and restricting essential supplies.
Al-Qanoua warned that Netanyahu bears full responsibility for the consequences of delaying the prisoner release, urging mediators to pressure Israel to abide by the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
He noted that, for weeks, Hamas had been calling on mediators to ensure Israeli compliance with the first phase of the deal. Meanwhile, he reaffirmed Hamas’ commitment to the ceasefire agreement, provided that Israel also should uphold its obligations.
In February 8th, 2024, 183 Palestinians were set free in exchange for three Israeli captives as part the fifth swap deal between Hamas and Israel.
