Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi and his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad Al-Maliki, discussed in Amman, on Monday, the developments of the Palestinian issue, and confirmed to held negotiations to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the basis of a two-state solution.
The two ministers affirmed, in a statement, that the two-state solution is a strategic choice to achieve peace between Palestine and Israel, which will lead to the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On the other hand, they criticized Israeli annexation as an act of destruction to the two-state solution.
“It blows up the very basis of the peace process, and will deny the people of the region their right to live in peace, security and stability,” they added.
In the same context, they condemned Israel's decision to build new settlement units in the "Givat Hamatos" and "Ramat Shlomo" settlements, in occupied East Jerusalem.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Planning and Land Authority announced, on Sunday, its decision to build 1257 new settlement units in East Jerusalem.
The Israeli website "Walla" indicated that the new units will be built in the "Givat Hamatos" settlement in East Jerusalem.
It is noteworthy that Israel approved, on Thursday, the construction of 108 new settlement units in the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
