DayofPal—A six-month-pregnant Palestinian woman lost her unborn child after the ambulance transporting her to a hospital in Nablus was delayed by Israeli forces at a military checkpoint on Monday.

The ambulance was held at the Awarta military checkpoint, where Israeli forces subjected it to a security inspection, according to local sources.

Palestinian medical organizations, alongside (PHRI), warned that Israel’s blockade of Nablus has severely curtailed residents’ access to healthcare, delaying emergency medical treatment and placing patients’ lives at heightened risk.

The Israeli human rights organization also reported that the citywide curfew forced two Palestinian women to give birth inside ambulances after they were prevented from reaching hospitals in time.
In a post on X, Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI) said that “a third woman delivered at the clinic in Aqraba after medical teams were unable to evacuate her for hospital care.”

“In another incident, an ambulance attempting to transport a patient through the area of a nearby Israeli settlement was forced to turn back after being denied passage,” the post said.

“PHRI has also received reports that dialysis patients remain stranded at checkpoints- some inside ambulances and others in private vehicles – unable to reach the life-sustaining treatment they depend on.”
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the network of Israeli military checkpoints across the Nablus governorate has severely disrupted the work of emergency responders, delaying the evacuation of wounded and critically ill patients to hospitals in Nablus, which serves as the region’s primary medical hub.

The Israeli army has launched a large-scale attack across the Nablus area in the northern occupied West Bank, deploying reinforcements and tightening restrictions throughout the governorate.

Israeli forces have arrested more than 70 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, while sealing the entrances to the villages of Tal and Burin and placing the city of Nablus under siege.

Israeli troops also carried out raids on Palestinian homes in multiple areas across the West Bank, detaining civilians and conducting extensive searches, according to Palestinian reports.

Israeli political leaders and settler organizations have called for “revenge” against Palestinians, saying they “want to see blood” and “erase the village of Tel.”

The calls come after armed Israeli settlers, escorted by the soldiers, raided the Palestinian village of Tel and killed four members of the same family on Friday.
