DaysofPal-The US administration is considering a broad package of measures aimed at isolating the International Criminal Court (ICC) and limiting its ability to investigate and prosecute American and Israeli officials over war crimes.
A State Department official told Reuters on Monday that the administration views the ICC as a potential “threat” to U.S. sovereignty and is reviewing a range of possible responses.
The measures under consideration reportedly include additional sanctions, travel bans, visa restrictions, and increased diplomatic pressure on member states to withdraw from the court.
The proposed measures are part of a broader U.S. strategy to limit the ICC’s jurisdiction and influence over U.S. personnel and its allies, particularly Israel, amid the ongoing war in Gaza.
U.S. officials argue that the court’s actions pose a growing risk to the United States, claiming they could affect “all aspects of the US political and legal system.”
The Trump administration has intensified its criticism of the ICC since the court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity in connection with the war in Gaza.
