DayofPal — Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems says its artificial intelligence-powered military systems generated around 850,000 intelligence targets across Gaza and Lebanon between 7 October 2023 and the end of 2025, highlighting the unprecedented role of AI in Israel’s genocide.
The figures were disclosed by Miki Edelstein, a retired Israeli major general and Executive Vice President of Elbit Systems, during a ground warfare conference hosted by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London.
According to Edelstein, Elbit’s AI-enabled systems have produced more than 20,000 battle plans and 850,000 intelligence targets since the start of Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip.
At the center of the company’s battlefield technology is Tzayad, the Israeli military’s primary ground forces command-and-control system, developed jointly by Elbit Systems and Israel’s Ministry of Defense.
The company said it secured contracts worth approximately $100 million to integrate advanced artificial intelligence capabilities into the platform.
Elbit claims the system has dramatically accelerated the military “kill chain”, the process of identifying, approving, and engaging targets, from approximately 50 minutes to between one and seven minutes.
The AI platform processes vast amounts of intelligence data, including mobile phone records, aerial imagery, radar scans, geolocation information, and other surveillance inputs.
Tzayad also functions as a central hub linked with other Israeli target-generation systems, including Lavender and Habsora (“The Gospel”), which have previously drawn international scrutiny over their role in identifying strike targets.
Thr system generated an average of around 1,000 targets per day during the first two years of the war.
Analysts say the scale of the figures raises serious questions about the extent of AI-assisted targeting, with some experts suggesting the database may have encompassed nearly half of Gaza’s population and infrastructure.
The reported targets included individuals, vehicles, buildings, and other sites that could be designated for military strikes by land, air, or sea.
